A 500-g mass hangs from a 45.0-cm-long string that is fixed at the top. The mass is pulled slightly aside and allowed to swing back and forth as a pendulum.

(a) What is the frequency (in Hz) of the pendulum.

(b) Now the same mass is attached to a spring and found to oscillate at the same frequency. What is the spring constant of the spring.

(c) If the mass is replaced with a 1.0-kg mass, will the frequency of the pendulum increase, decrease, or remain the same?

(d) If the mass is replaced with a 1.0-kg mass, will the frequency of the spring oscillations increase, decrease, or remain the same?
