Q. Two ambulances move toward each other on a straight road. Each travels at a speed of 65 mph. The siren on each ambulance produces a sound wave of frequency 460 Hz. (Take the speed of sound in air to be 340 m/s.)
(i) The driver of each ambulance hears the other's siren and hears a beat note between the frequency of his own siren and the siren of the other ambulance. What is the frequency of the beat note? (ii) A passerby stands midway between the two ambulances. What is the frequency of the beat note between two sirens that he hears?
