Question: A physicist has an idea to use three wires with different gauges (thicknesses) and connect them in series with a 9V battery. Each wire has the same length and the total length is 1.4m. The thickest wire is 2.2 mm thick, the middle one, 1.5mm thick, and the thinnest one is 0.3 mm in diameter. Which of the three wires is going to be the hottest? What is the electric potential difference measured across each of the three wires? What is the electric field in each of the 3 wires?
