Obesity is a major health problem in Australia (AIHW, 2014). There is evidence that advertising of unhealthy food impacts unhealthy food consumption, but the exact nature of this relationship, and under what circumstances this occurs, is unclear. In one study, Harris, Bargh and Brownell (2009) manipulated US school-aged children's exposure to advertising by showing them either advertisements depicting toys or unhealthy food during a television program. They found that children in the food advertising condition consumed a larger amount of food during the television program than those exposed to the toy advertising condition. However, it remains unclear whether advertising affects younger children, and whether this effect holds in an Australian population.

In the current study, children aged 3 to 4 years were randomly allocated to watch a 15 minute children's television program interspersed with four 30 second advertisements depicting either unhealthy foods (chocolate biscuits, potato chips, ice cream, lollies) or toys (Lego, dolls, trucks, Play-Doh). At the beginning of the program they were provided with a bowl containing 30 Tiny Teddies (small biscuits). Researchers counted how many Tiny Teddies each child ate during the program. Other characteristics such as age, sex, preference for Tiny Teddies, and length of time since the child had last eaten, were also obtained from parents. Children were recruited from advertisements placed on online discussion forums aimed at parents in the Canberra area, and testing sessions occurred in a laboratory set up as a ‘mock living room' (containing a television and comfortable chairs) on campus at the University of Canberra. Children were tested individually with a parent present.

You need to write up this study as a laboratory report using APA structure and formatting - but you do not need to include the Introduction and Discussion. The focus of this assessment is the Method and the Results.

For this assessment you need to write:
• an appropriate title (less than 12 words)
• research hypotheses - these are what you predict will you find for your three analyses (you
do NOT need to list null and alternative hypotheses, only research hypotheses)
• a Method section (describing the participants, measures, design and procedures),
• a Results section (presenting the findings of three analyses as outlined below),
• an Outcomes section (interpreting the findings in light of the hypotheses).

For the analyses, you will need to use the data set (Laboratory Report Data 2019.sav), create any new variables required for the analyses, and conduct and report appropriate analyses (including testing assumptions) addressing each of the following three questions as three separate analyses:

ANALYSIS 1 What is the effect of Advertising Type and Age on number of Tiny Teddies consumed? (include Figure)

ANALYSIS 2 What is the effect of Amount of time since children last ate (in three groups: < 1 hour, 1 - 2 hours, > 2 hours) on number of Tiny Teddies consumed?

ANALYSIS 3 Is there a difference in number of Tiny Teddies consumed between children who like or do not like Tiny Teddies?
