An unstable elementary particle comes in two varieties, one with positive and one with negative electric charge. A theory predicts that the rate of decay is the same for both varieties. As a test of the theory a physicist counts decays over 10 minutes for each variety. The yields are N+=3042 and N-=2967.

a) What does the physicist quote for the rates R+ and R- from these experiments, in decays per second, including their errors?

b) What is the difference (R+)-(R-) between the two rates, with its error?

c) Do the results agree with the theory?
