I. This question involves the United States Code. When something is invented it may be entitled to a patent. A patent is legal protection for the inventor so that others have to pay the inventor to use their product. Sometimes, a company may sell a product that where the packaging or product is marked with a patent number, essentially claiming the product is patented when, in fact, there is no patent. In other words, the product has been falsely marked. There can be fines imposed for doing making such a false mark.
