I don't think that one mode of therapy is superior to another. As we are all complex and unique individuals, different modes of therapy are going to be more beneficial for different people or different situations. Group therapy is often used for addictions, because people help each other by sharing similar experiences. Family therapy might be more beneficial for a child or teenager because family influence is much stronger than for an adult living alone. Each mode of therapy has it's uses and benefits. A couple wanting to improve their relationship and communication together wouldn't seek individual but couples therapy. Each person and situation is unique and the mode of therapy should be chosen to fit that person's needs.

2. I don't think that any one mode is superior to the others, it just all depends on what type of therapy is best suited for the patient. For individuals suffering from depression, individual therapy may be what is needed, it could help if the patient could speak candidly, not having to worry what others think. If a person has an eating disorder, then group therapy may be what is best because the individual can get support from others in the same situation. Couples therapy works when marriages are in trouble, it is needed so that the individuals can come together to work out their problems. Family therapy helps when a patient has problems that may be caused by situations in the family, or maybe they are a disruption to the family and everyone needs to work together. It all really depends on the situation, who is involved, and what goals are needing to be accomplished.
