Question: Why do you think some women end up working as prostitutes from an economic standpoint? (Review and provide data available to you about the feminization of poverty during week 9 to complement the resources provided to you this week). What are the differences between decriminalization and legalization of prostitution? Why is this distinction important? What is that feminists don't understand about sex workers needs when advocating for the Nordic Model and other forms of legalization of prostitution? Does the ability to exert personal "agency" (= capacity, condition, or state of acting or of exerting power for oneself) as development economists define it, have anything to do with this? (make sure to watch Juno Mac's video, as well as "To Survive, To Live" video). Provide an example of a country/state/region where prostitution is legalized in some form. Describe what exactly is legalized and if there are any restrictions still in place. Are there any problems associated to these restrictions? Do you think that the Law of Unintended Consequences mentioned above is at play in your example? Why? Why not?
