Concept maps are ways of showing knowledge and its organization in a picture. The idea is that you write down information in picture form. It demonstrates how your way of thinking about one bit of information relates to other bits of information you might have. The outcome looks like a schema written down on the page showing what you know and how you think the information is organized. So the basic unit of a concept map is something called a proposition.

I have an example of a concept map about concept maps. For this picture an expert on concept maps constructed a picture to show their advanced understanding of a concept map. You can see that it is highly intricate and very deeply thought out.

Assignment:

1. Create a concept map about energy since this is an area in which you now have expertise. Show your understanding of the content.

2. Create an accompanying explanation of the concept map explaining its content and organization. What is clearly conveyed in your map and what is not?

3. You can do the concept map in PowerPoint. You must paste it into a word document to accompany your explanation. (PLEASE SEND AS WORD DOCUMENT)

*Please use simple terms and simple explanations (yet well explained) as much as possible. I am a student who works with young children, and I would very much hope to understand the assignment as much as possible.
Thank you in advance!

There is no word limit. My big request is that the understanding of the concept can be understood if presented to parents of elementary school students. I would like for it to be in simple terms, but with great explanation.
