Sampling frequency and bit rate of transmissionThe output of a video surveillance camera is an analog signal with a bandwidth that extends from 0 Hz to 1.5 MHz. The signal is sampled at 1.2 times its Nyquist rate.
The resulting PAM signal is converted to 6 bit digital words with an analog to digital converter and the words are transmitted serially over a twisted pair used as the cable for data transmission.
a. What is the sampling frequency?
b. What is bit rate of the transmission on the twisted pair?
c. If the digital outputs of three identical video cameras are combined onto a single cable using time division multiplexing, what is the bit rate on the cable?

The river estuary is tidal causing the surface level of the water to rise and fall. At certain times of day, reflections from the water surface cause deep fading of the received signal.
A radio receiver for the HF band covers the frequency range 2 MHz to 30 MHz. The first IF frequency is 3.0 MHz and the local oscillator is above the received signal frequency.
A filter has the following characteristics: Attenuation is 0 dB from 0 Hz to 2.5 kHz. Phase angle decreases linearly with increasing frequency above 2.5 kHz. Above 5 kHz the filter has steadily increasing attenuation.

Describe why interrupts are not appropriate for implementing synchronization primitive in multiprocessor systems.
Write an assembly code segment that calls the subroutine New Function if bits 5 and 6 of PORTD equal 1. Write the same code segment in part (a) using structured assembly constructs.
What are the respective advantages and disadvantages of the asynchronous and synchronous communication modes from a reliability perspective?
"Divide by 3 clock with 50% duty cycle" is the most commonly asked ASIC design question. This solution gives a simple design in which only 1 counter is required which works only on positive edge of the clock.
