A ball is dropped onto a hard floor from a height of 1.72 m and rebounds to a height of 1.04 m. Use 10 N/kg for g and the upward direction as positive.

a) What is in m/s its velocity just before it strikes the floor?

b) What is in m/s its velocity just after it leaves the floor on its way back up?

c) What is in m/s2 its average acceleration while in contact with the floor if the contact lasts 3.36 x 10-3 s?

During part of the contact, the ball compresses. It regains back its shape during the second part.

d) What is in seconds the duration of the compression part?

e) By how much, in meters, does the ball compress?
