In Y scene, we discover that some of the "female" dinosaurs find a way to switch their sex so breeding can commence. There, just off the path, are the hatched eggs, evidence of Malcolm's claim. As Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) says to the two children in his charge, "Malcolm was right. Look," he says, pointing to tiny footprints leading away from the broken eggs, "life found a way."

In Z scene, the above idea is foreshadowed this way: Dr. Grant is, as usual, having trouble with technology, this time during the rapid descent of a helicopter.
