Problem
In order to effectively engage in anti-oppressive social work practice, one must be able to reflect on one's identity and comprehend how this impacts their relationship with clients. This problem consists of a critical self- reflection of your social location, focusing on your areas of privilege and areas of marginalization. You are encouraged to identify as fulsomely as you wish, and then focus on one privileged identity and one marginalized identity to discuss and unpack.
Instructions:
You are to write a 4 pages double space paper (plus cover page and references) identifying your social location. Use key concepts, ideas, and anti-oppressive principles discussed in- class and in course readings thus far. Consider the questions below to guide your reflection. It is suggested that you use these as headings.
I. What is a dominant area of privilege for me and how does that privilege manifest itself?
II. What is a dominant area of marginalization for me and how may I be potentially marginalized or oppressed?
III. How are these area/sites of my identity being produced? Get the instant assignment help.
