Case: A female community health nurse (CHN) is interested in writing a proposal for a program to establish community-based bilingual birthing in a Hispanic community. Although the CHN she is not bilingual, she assumes one of the clinic's staff members will translate. The CHN meets with the clinic administration and tells the director that she feels that "too many Hispanic women are having too many babies and need to be to be taught techniques to deliver their babies safely." After the meeting with the director, the CHN is met a great deal of resistance from the center's administration. The center director tells the CHN that the proposed project will not work at the community women's clinic.
