Assignment
Often in healthcare, we have limited time in which to communicate important information. This means we must be concise or succinct (expressing briefly and clearly), sharing key points right from the start. An introduction in a paper is similar. You must communicate the overall topic/purpose of your paper and how/what you will address in the subsequent paragraphs. It should draw the "reader" or the listener into the discussion.
Instructions
A. You are to write an "elevator speech" expressing the importance of one of the following key issues.
B. You can choose from the following topics:
a. Access to Healthcare or Medications
b. Healthcare Worker Shortages
c. Rising Food Costs
d. Public Health Preparedness (pandemics, natural disasters, bioterrorism, mass casualty)
C. Think about the overall message you wish to convey. The elevator speech will set the stage for your audience and make them want to learn more so they will then read your paper.
D. Imagine that you have 2 minutes on global news to express your concerns on a topic currently impacting health and wellbeing of populations across the glove. What information do you need to share? How can you communicate the key purpose/points of the paper in two minutes (2-3 paragraphs in this assignment)?
