Question: Comment, connect, question this text? Theravada Buddhism or the "school of the elders" is the oldest surviving branch of Buddhism that focuses on the earliest Buddhist scriptures. The considerations that lead me to accept the worldwide view of Theravada Buddhism as valid is their commitment to the 4 Noble Fourfold Truths. The Four Noble Truths include the suffering, the cause of the suffering, the end of the suffering and the path that leads to the end of suffering. The first truth, the truth of suffering, is Dukkha which focuses on life's dissatisfactions. Humans cling to temporary things and when things change when you don't want them to it can be disappointing and unfulfilling. The second truth, the cause of suffering, is caused by life's desires. Humans desire certain possessions, people, or important things in their life that end, leaving them disappointed. The third truth, the end of suffering, is about how we can't change what happens to us, but we can change our responses to what happens to us. The fourth truth is the end of the suffering or the eight-fold path.
