Instructions:

You must review all of your work placement service's emergency policies and procedures before you start this task.

Your assessor will give the background information about an emergency scenario - you are to pretend that this has just happened and you are ready to respond.

You must:

Respond appropriately to the aggressor.
Follow instructions that your assessor gives to you (ie they will 'break character' to give you updates on the situation and what to do next).
Ensure your colleagues exit the building - you will need to follow the instructions in your work placement service's policies and procedures, as well as any other relevant documentation/instructions (such as maps, signage, plans and so on).
After the scenario is complete, debrief with your assessor. As part of the debrief you will need to talk about:
What happened - give a description of the situation.
What were you thinking and feeling at the time - explain how you felt during the role play (remember to imagine that this is a real event).
What was good and bad about the experience?
What sense can you make of the situation?
If this situation (or a similar threat to safety) happened in the future, what actions would you take or do differently?
What signs of stress and fatigue might yourself and others involved in this type of situation experience after the event?
What support services could be accessed to help the health and wellbeing of the staff involved?
