You are provided with two strains of Neurospora. The first has a poky mutation in its mitochondrial DNA that causes slow growth. The second has a maternal effect mutation in the mei gene that causes all spores in the asci produced by a mei-mother to die. In the following cross between these two strains, what genotype and phenotypic ratios will be observed in the F1 populations?

(i) poky-, mei + female x poky+, mei-male

F1: 50% poky-, mei+ offspring (slow growth)

      50% poky-, mei- offspring (slow groeth)

(i) poky+, mei- female x poky-,mei+ male
