Assignment: Article Summary
Submit a summary of the Huynh et al. (Huynh et al. (2023) Context Matters- Stress for minority students who attend minority-majority universities-1.pdf.
Your summary should be no longer than 2 pages, double-spaced, size 12 font in Times New Roman. Be sure to consider the following.
1) Summarize each section (roughly 1 paragraph each)
2) Introduction: What general topic is the research addressing? What have other researchers discovered about this topic? What's new about this study compared to other research? What are the researcher's hypotheses?
3) Method: What are the characteristics of the participants? What apparatus and materials were used in this study? What did the participants actually do? (Make sure to focus on the bigger picture here - what variables they were measuring and who reported it is much more important than the specific number of participants or the university where the data was collected).
4) Results: For each hypothesis, in everyday English, what did the statistical test tell you about the hypothesized relationships? How are the variables related? What do the tables and figures convey? (Bigger picture ideas about the relationships between variables are important here. You do not need to include specific numbers or analyses in your summary).
5) Discussion: Did these findings agree with previous research? How do they explain expected or unexpected findings? Why do researchers think these findings are important? What are the implications?
6) Relate this study to your proposed study. What is your proposed area of study for the semester-long research project? Remember that you are going to use the variable of stress and pick one additional variable to study. Why is this topic relevant to your study? How did it inspire your current research? Describe how these findings influence your predictions about your own findings.
