There are 76,288 gay people registered as members of the gay community in Indonesia. While Oetomo is estimated nationally, there are 1% of the number of Homosexual communities in Indonesia. In Indonesia itself, there are several examples of people who dare to reveal themselves as gay in the general public such as Oetomo who is the president of Gay in Indonesia, Samuel Wattimena is a famous designer who made a confession of being gay in the March 18, 2001 edition of Kompas, and Jupiter Fourtissimo is an actor who direct statement at the Razor event January 24, 2008.
