PICO Question Development. Using your focus topic (theme) you will begin researching the topic. Use the FSW library to find some recent articles that relate to the problem topic or Google Scholars. After you have found some articles on a topic related to the theme for the EBP, think about how you would approach this topic. Is there a current problem that needs further research? Think: What does a PICO question include? Use this information to formulate a problem PICO question on your nursing topic.
Discussion - Developing a PICO Question. You will post by day 4 and reply to two other students by day 7. Develop your PICO question. The PICO must focus on the nursing issue (topic) you have signed up for. There are many opportunities with each topic to run with your ideas for what is a current problem that needs to be addressed.
High-Risk medication error safety - Nursing Role ( this is the topic I have signed for)
This pico question MUST be from a nursing intervention approach. Ordering Medications, lab/ x-ray testing, or other items requiring provider orders are not within the scope of nursing. Collaboration in care actions may be included through appropriate channels like obtaining orders for nursing to implement.
Start with identifying your nursing topic.
Why did you determine this specific pico question?
What from your reading supports your decision?
What search terms do you propose using?
What databases did you use and why?
Reply to two other students - One that has your general topic, and one with a different topic. Help them with their PICO nursing question. Did they follow the PICO development guidelines? Is there something missing or maybe could be worded differently? This is where the information you provide to two of your peers is critical to everyone receiving good feedback.
