James and Tracy have been married for 15 years. Ja meshas been the primary wage earner. While Tracy has a teaching certificate, the parties decided when their first child was born that Tracy would stay home because it would cost more for day care than Tracy could make working. The parties have two children at the time that James files for divorce: Annie who is 13 years old, and Max who is 7. James earns approximately $80,000 a year. If Tracy goes back to work full time as a teacher she will earn approximately $36,000 a year. She estimates that she needs approximately $50,000 a year to maintain the same standard of living the parties had during the marriage.
