Task:
Rhetorical analysis is something we do every day. From our first impressions of folks to our engagement with internet memes and content. It's how we understand and make sense of the world around us. A rhetorical analysis paper examines the rhetorical situation of a text. It looks at the text's exigence, the intended audience, and the constraints of the text. Because this is an election year, as voters and members of the discourse community of United States, it's important for us to be able to understand and discern the rhetorical strategies that our politicians use to make arguments. For this paper, you will select one of the speeches delivered at this year's primary conventions. You will pick one speech from either the Republican National Convention or the Democratic National Convention-the links listed below take you to some of the more prominent speeches, so be sure to pick from those available. Your task for this project is to identify and discuss the rhetorical situation of this text and reveal what you think the author's main exigence is in their respective speech.
*When selecting your speech, please be mindful that some of the speakers use rhetoric that is in direct contradiction with the ethos of this class. The views presented in said speeches reflect the perspective of the speaker alone, so when selecting which text you want to write about, be mindful of your choice.
To help you in composing your response to this prompt, you will consider and address the following questions within your essay:
A. What is the speaker's exigence?
B. What evidence from the speech suggests that this is the exigence?
C. Who is the speaker's intended audience? Get the instant assignment help.
D. What evidence from the speech suggests that this is the intended audience?
E. What are the limitations that the speaker confronts in achieving his exigence?
F. What evidence from the video suggests this is a limitation the speaker is confronting?
G. Is the speaker's speech effective in achieving their exigence? Why or why not?
