Question 1. Compare the people profiled in the two documentaries. Do they have the same reasons for spending time in the virtual worlds? What do they have in common and what makes them different from one another? Do you think some of the people using these environments are doing so in a healthier way than others?
Question 2. Some students complain that these documentaries, made almost a generation ago now, are outdated in how they portray socializing in multiplayer and virtual world environments. If you agree, and are not just responding to the quaint graphics, I would be interested in your own take on the psychological and sociological experiences of socializing in an avatar environment. (if anyone knows or discovers a documentary that deals with gaming or virtual reality socializing today from a philosophical, political, psychological, or social perspective I hope you will share it with me.)
Question 3. Apart from multiplayer games or something like Second Life, Is there another way in which you socialize online in a persona that is different from your real-world body or persona that you can discuss, again from the kinds of perspectives explored in this class? For instance, if you are an influencer with a performative persona, or you present yourself online in some other way that is different from how you are or appear in embodied physical reality.
