1) This forum looks at race and/ or socio-economic status playing a part in the criminal justice system. QUESTIONS:

SHOULD WE SPEND MONEY ON MORE POLICE AND PRISONS TO CONTROL CRIME? OR

SHOULD BE SPEND MONEY ON WELFARE AND EDUCATION IN AN ATTEMPT TO PREVENT CRIME?

This forum looks at the Exclusionary Rule and how it affects the police and the rules of evidence. If a police officer has been found to have obtained evidence illegally, by violating the Search and Seizure rules of the 4th Amendment, then the evidence is considered tainted and that evidence CANNOT be used in the prosecution of a defendant. Even though there are good faith exception to the rule, those can be far and few betwen.

The issue at point is whether a criminal should go free because the officer made an error in seizing the item. This has major impact on cases because what if the officer is arresting someone considered to be a career criminal? Should we turn our heads and look the other way so the police can keep our communities safe?
