Assignment - Extract, transform, and load data to interpret value

Data Analytics -

1. CA Overview

You are to extract data from the "Quandl - Financial, Economic and Alternative Data" website platform (as defined below) and present the 4 most insightful findings from the dataset as a short report (as outlined below) that discusses your findings.

2. Dataset -

You must build your dataset so that it contains the following:

1. two major crypto-currencies (e.g. bitcoin and ripple)

2. two at currencies (e.g. US$, and Euro.)

3. two major commodities (e.g. gold and oil)

4. two big technology companies (e.g. IBM and Facebook)

5. two banks operating in the region of each of your at currencies, i.e. if you choose US$ and Euro, you need an American and a European Bank.

6. two market indexes (e.g. the S&P 100, NASDAQ etc.)

The granularity of data should be daily and it should span the last 365 days.

3. Report

The report should be structured as follows:

Introduction: outline your four insights motivating your choice(s) for their inclusion it is expected that key academic works assist in defending your choices. You should also define your role, i.e. what are you seeking to achieve in analysing this dataset, are you approaching it as an investor, a market analyst, or something else: state your role noting how this affects your choice of insights.

Dataset: briefly note the 12 components of your dataset, if you made any key decisions that influenced your dataset composition you can briefly mention them here.

Methods: outline the methods you have applied to find your insights. You do not need to describe how the methods work, but why they are the most appropriate means to analyze the data specific to the insight(s) being derived.

Insights: describe the process of deriving the insight (i.e. application of method), the insight itself, and the significance as well as value of the insight.

References a list of references used

The fifth insight it can be difficult to decide which 4 are the most important 4, if you were stuck concerning which 4 to include, you can supply an additional fifth insight here. This should be non-arbitrary, i.e. if you don't have more than 4 leave this blank, it is an optional section. If the optional 5th insight in this section would have yielded a higher score, it will be considered as one of the 4, ejecting the lowest scoring insight from the report.
