Assignment Problem: Watch the Neutral Gator video. This video presents a method by which the University of Florida is offsetting the considerable carbon emissions produced by each football game. You will also watch this in your Mastering Assignment Answer the following questions about the program and then apply it to Georgia Southern.

Part 1: UF-Neutral Gators

What is meant by "carbon offsets?"

By what two methods do the Florida Gators offset carbon emissions for football games?

What are the sources of the carbon emissions for the games? How do they calculate the carbon footprint that they are trying to offset?

Do you think this model (carbon neutral football games) could work at Georgia Southern? Explain.

Part 2: Georgia Southern and Sustainability

Georgia Southern is known as a leader in sustainability around the country and has received numerous awards for its sustainability efforts, yet we produce vast quantities of CO2 emissions each year as a result of our operations: electricity use from fossil fuel sources, vehicle use/transportation, waste production and disposal, food production and food waste, building construction and more.

Select one area on which to focus and propose one method of reducing CO2 emissions at Georgia Southern. Address where the funds would come from to implement solutions. Follow the steps outlined by UF to make your proposal successful. Write a couple paragraphs addressing how you will approach the following for your proposal:

1. Determine the environmental impact of what you're trying to offset

2. Create an education strategy

3. Follow up with people
