Based on your research and review, reflect on this hypothetical scenario. You are in a court room (civil court) and reporting back to the Judge after three months of child protection services for a child who was victimized and experienced both physical abuse and neglect. Mother has been responsive, however, has struggled to maintain sobriety which is a primary requirement of their family plan and in a recent supervised visit there was concern that she may be under the influence of illicit drugs. Child is clearly attached to her mother and all parties want reunification to be the end goal. At this time, it is not your recommendation that the supervised visitation be pulled back although you know mother wants supervised visitation to end and to have her child back home. You will have to make your recommendation, in court, with mother present. The child will be in the hallway/room outside of the court room as well.
