This week, you will be introduced to the course and its policies, and you will discuss how the mind and body interact in illness and health. Come prepared to discuss the following questions:

We are beginning to link psychology to health. What methodologies are used in health psychology to prove this link? What are the reasons you need studies in health psychology? How have views of health changed?

Make sure you have read this week's required readings in our textbook, which will help you to answer these questions in seminar.

Option 1: Participate in a synchronous discussion.

Option 2: Complete the alternative assignment.

You will benefit most from completing Seminar Option 1. However, if you are unable to attend you have the opportunity to make up the points by listening to the Seminar archive and writing a paper summarizing the Seminar. You should create your paper in Microsoft Word and your work should be formatted in APA style. Your paper should be composed in complete sentences and paragraphs and be at least 500 words in length. You should submit your work to the Unit 1: Seminar Dropbox by the end of the unit.
