Assignment -

Temperature and precipitation data for an unspecified location is provided. Using your knowledge gained from this course, develop a comprehensive hydroclimatological assessment for the given region. In your writeup, address the following components of the hydroclimate:

Mean state of the climate
Overall variability of the climate
General trend of the climate
Correlation between temperature and precipitation
Change in precipitation variability with time.

In addition, detrended precipitation data is provided. Detrended data removes the trend from the data such that anomalies earlier in the dataset can be used for better comparison with anomalies later in the dataset. Using this data, include the following components in your writeup:

Determine if the frequency of significant pluvial years is increasing, decreasing, or stationary with time.
Determine if the frequency of significant drought years is increasing, decreasing, or stationary with time.

Provide a 1/2 to 1-page, single spaced (300-500 words) hydroclimatological assessment for the region. Use figures and statistics to support your discussion.

Your boss is the CEO of Disney Entertainment which operates theme parks worldwide at the locations shown in the figure below. The most important aspect of the theme parks are the visitors and their desire to have a "magical" experience while attending. In recent years you and your boss have noted that hydroclimate factors may be having an impact on theme park efficiency and the enjoyment of the guests. As such, for each of the six parks, your boss wants to know the following:

1) What are the drivers of the hydroclimate for each location?

2) Are drought conditions an important contributor to the hydroclimate for each location?

3) Are pluvial conditions an important contributor to the hydroclimate for each location?

4) What impacts the variability of the hydroclimate for each location?

5) How is the hydroclimate changing (if at all) for each location?

Your boss (the CEO of Disney) recognizes that it may be difficult to provide detailed, quantitative values for each question, but would still like your detailed, expert opinion with any relevant resources and/or justifications for each of the above. Good luck!
