Word count - 1000 words – this means the maximum you can write is 1100 words (10% above) PART A = 600 words and PART B = 400 words. Due date: Friday 25 by midnight. Setting out your assessment - Include the selection criteria above your response (this will not be included in your word count) – that way we know exactly which one you are providing a response to. Number these – 1-4 – this is how we are marking them. First impressions count – NSW Health receive thousands of applications –so make sure you have checked your work for any spelling errors, that you have written in full sentences, that your answers are logically and neatly presented. Provide specific details in your answer – i.e.: it is not enough just to say you have clinical knowledge and clinical problem solving abilities. The key word is “demonstrated” – so how have you demonstrated this?

Examples“…on clinical placement I have been able to manage a patient load of 2” “I have taken part in a number of clinical simulations where I have had to think critically about a clinical scenario and make decisions quickly”. If you have worked as an AIN or EN you could include your experiences here – however remember the interviewers are looking for your skills as a beginning RN – so make sure you are explicit about that. Provide an example – this is the best way of demonstrating that you meet the criteria. For example “…I undertook a 3rd year subject that specifically focused on professional accountability and the legal and ethical requirements of the RN – and had to demonstrate this knowledge in a group presentation”. Referencing - You should reference the LHD website that you use to get your information. Include any other sources that you access e.g. ABS. Don’t forget a reference list too. This won’t be included in your word count.
