1. Include at least five (5) comments, questions, etc. for each article.  These can be added to formal analysis of the article, (see below), or you might even directly annotate on the article and submit that with the formal assessment.
2. I am including some questions that I want you to address in your formal reading responses.  Please address all of the questions.  Don't feel limited by the questions, they are a vehicle to "jump start" your reflective process.  Use them to help you formulate your own understanding of the topics and even to generate more of your questions.  For example, ask yourself, "What do I know about this topic?"  "How do I feel about its importance?"  "How would I go about addressing this topic?"  "What are the important components of what the author is saying?"  "What concepts and terminology from the course material are applicable?"  Be sure to include your thoughts in your responses.  Like the children, we are involved in a developmental process----our ideas are always evolving and changing.  This assignment is designed to be a process of thoughtful questioning, reflection of our current practices and documentation of your understanding of the course material.

    Include the following in your reading response paper:

• The name of the article that you are writing about
• Your overall thoughts and feelings about the article that you read

Answers to the following questions:

• Do you agree or disagree with the author? Why?
• How does this article relate to your own experiences? As a teacher?  As a student, or child?
• What are some of the key ideas the author is trying to convey?
• What learning occurred for you by reading this article? How can you apply this learning?
• What would you like to learn more about related to the information presented in this article
• Please do not summarize the article as I have already read it.
