Affirmative Action is designed to ensure fair treatment of any minority/marginalized group and all others (even the dominant group). The main goal is to "level the playing field" so that biases cannot be used that would not affect job performance. Skill sets are related to education and experience but not to nationality, race, religion, sex or disability. If one has the skill set for the job, consideration should be equal.
