It is important to recognize this and plan to avoid it in your disaster planning and preparation.

Umbrella organizations are ubiquitous in emergency management. It is important to be able to recognize them, understand their structure, and know how they operate. It is also important to identify terms you learned in previous lessons as you address this discussion, specifically emerging, established, extending, and expanding organizations, and how they fit within NGO structures when responding to disasters.
