Question: When Lyme disease is not treated, this infection ends up spreading to joints, heart, and even the nervous system. Other symptoms presented with Lyme disease are facial palsy as well as swollen knee. Heart palpitations or irregular heartbeats (Lyme carditis), inflammation of spinal cord and brain, severe headaches, and neck stiffness. This disease is treated with antibiotics for a few weeks. Ways to prevent Lyme disease are using repellent, removing ticks, and reducing the exposure of tick habitats (Lyme disease 2022).
