Problem
My name is Deja. I'm from St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, but I recently moved to North Carolina. I'm a mother of four and currently working toward my bachelor's degree in Human Services with a concentration in Family and Children. I work in social services, where I assist individuals and families in my community who are going through difficult or unexpected situations. My role focuses on helping households navigate challenges by connecting them with support and resources that can ease financial and everyday stress. Being in this field has allowed me to see firsthand how closely physical health, stress, and overall well-being are connected. Get the instant assignment help.
After reviewing the course outcomes, I see this class as an opportunity to better understand how the human body works from the inside out and how structure relates to function. Learning about body organization, cells, tissues, and homeostasis helps explain how the body maintains balance even during stress or illness. In both my professional and personal life, I often see how stress, health conditions, and environmental factors affect people's daily functioning. Concepts from Chapters 1 and 3, such as the levels of organization in the body and how cells perform specialized functions, help me understand that even small changes at the cellular level can impact the entire person (Marieb, 2019). This knowledge feels relevant to my goal of supporting families in a more informed and holistic way.
After reviewing the syllabus and Module One assignments, I believe staying organized and managing my time well will be important for my success in this course. I plan to rely on the textbook, course materials, and class discussions to help reinforce complex topics. I also think asking questions and learning from classmates' perspectives will make the experience more engaging and easier to understand. Support and feedback from Instructor Wirth will help guide me as I build confidence in learning scientific concepts that are new to me.
I look forward to learning alongside everyone this term!
