At first blush, it would seem that Elijah has just had his greatest victory. He had confronted the pagan priests of Baal and had called fire down from heaven to consume his offering.
What a glorious day of victory that was for Elijah.
Yet, when we come to chapter 19 he is brooding in defeat. How do you explain this apparent contradiction?
