Water is the working fluid in a cogeneration cycle that generates electricity and provides heat for campus buildings. Steam at 2MPa,320 degrees Celsius, expands through a two turbine configuration. Some steam is extracted between the two turbines at 0.15 MPa to provide 10^6 kJ/hr for heating, and the remainder expands through the second turbine to the condenser pressure of 0.06 bar. The net power developed by the cycle is 600kW. Condensate returns from the campus buildings at 0.1 MPa, 60 degrees Celsius and passes through a throttling valve into the condenser, where it is reunited with the main feed-water flow. Saturated liquid at 0.06 bar leaves the condenser. Each turbine has an isentropic efficiency of 80%, and the pumping process can be considered isentropic.
Find
1) mass flow rate of steam into the first turbine in kg/hr.
2) heat transfer rate to the working fluid passing through the boiler, in kg/hr.
3) rate of heat transfer to the cooling water passing through the condenser, in kg/hr.
