1. The IRA, or Irish Republican Army, was a violent paramilitary/terror organization that believed in a unified Irish State free of British influence. They believed in somewhat socialist economic idealization, yet practiced far right views of many social issues (Britannica). The IRA was located in both Ireland and Northern Ireland, and had about 1,500 members at its peak. It lasted from 1969 to 1997, yet pockets still claim to be active in the regions of Cork and Dublin in Ireland (PBS). The tactics of the IRA ranged from armed assaults on law enforcement in Northern Ireland, to its infamous car bombings in the city of Belfast. These were done not only to coerce the people of Northern Ireland against the UK, but also to force the British Government to withdraw in order to prevent further bloodshed. Although not successful in its goal of removing Great Britain from Ireland, the IRA did manage to make major progress towards increase sovereignty in Northern Ireland, as well as performing many successful (and abhorrent) terror attacks to further their goals. I believe that as we move into an increasingly globalized society, hyper nationalist groups such as the IRA will loose members, power, and influence worldwide.

2. When looking at the bill of rights most of the amendments seem plausible and many are still important today, one amendment that seems outdated and simply not useful today would be amendment 3 of the bill of rights. Amendment 3 of the bill of rights put simply is protection against hosing soldiers in civilian homes, Though at the time when the bill of rights was drafted amendment 3 was important and viable. Now it seems to hold an unusual place in the bill of rights, the 3rd amendment today is rarely litigated and has never been used in a Supreme Court decision. On the other hand, one could argue that the 3rd amendment is still valuable today because of its importance regarding citizens' right to government intrusion. When looking at an amendment to add to the bill of rights I would consider adding term limits to congress, Members of congress having the ability to hold their given position for years upon years seems unreasonable and allows for instances of prolonged corruption.
