Assignment Instructions:

The purpose of this assignment is to develop a short powerpoint presentation discussing the historical and theoretical contributions of various perspectives on the field of school psychology.

The five main topic areas for discussion include the contributions of:

1) cognitive psychology,

2) behavioral psychology with an emphasis on applied behavior analysis

3) developmental psychopathology,

4) biological psychology, also referred to as biopsychology or psychobiology, and

5) educational psychology

You must address each of the five areas within your presentation.

The point is to discuss the different branches of psychology and directly relate them to the impact on practices within and the profession of school psychology. You should define and give characteristics about each of the five branches of psychology listed above. Then for each of those, you must make a connection to the field of school psychology. For example, educational psychologists study motivation, this relates to school psychology because teachers often say kids are unmotivated to do work, so they come to you for help in motivating the student (even though motivation may not actually be the issue).

You must include at a minimum five separate references in APA format. Be creative in your slides and/or presentation materials.
