Part I

You work in a lab which focuses on host-pathogen interactions and immune responses.  You have access to all the basic research instrumentation (gels, microscopes, PCR machines, etc.) and animal facilities. Your boss wants see if his lab can make any contribution to the fight against TB.  He asks you to prepare a two page, single-spaced research proposal addressing the calls for new diagnostics (pg. 87) or new vaccines (pg. 92) which are found in chapter 6 of the Global Plan.  The proposal could also address basic research to find better animal or in vitro models, novel drug administration techniques, and biomarkers. He would like your proposed experiment to be completed within a year.
