Assessment Task - Business Process Modelling
Overview
For this assessment task, you will work in a group to model a business process according to the given information.
Learning Outcome 1: Analyse the current business processes (As Is) and advising on the direction for the improvements in the lights of ES standard business processes (To Be) or in general in order to get both operational and strategic benefits.
Learning Outcome 2: Evaluate the keys to successful process design and implementation.
Learning Outcome 3: Distinguish the process governance needs and process roles and responsibilities.
Learning Outcome 4: Utilise professional tools to model, analyses, comprehend and design business processes.
Learning Outcome 5: Present a coordinated, coherent and independent exposition of knowledge and ideas in dealing with business process re-engineering for IS in general and ES in particular.
Assessment Details
You and your team members work as process architects for a consulting company. A client has asked you to for help them to formally model their business process into BPMN diagram(s) and plan for the implementation. Some materials regarding the business process have been provided to your team, yet they may not be sufficient. Your team is expected to finish the following tasks.
Tasks
Read the given Analysis Notes in file "Analysis Notes.pdf" to understand how the business process works, and give a textual description of your designed business process including involved process roles, activities, documents, etc. Extra research work is highly suggested, if you are not familiar with sales business processes. (Minimum 400 words)
Create the corresponding BPMN diagram(s) for the described business process, including necessary activities, events, messages, data, etc. (Minimum 20 meaningful and non-trivial activities). Your modelled process should correctly describe the execution sequence of key activities, message interaction between different parties, data operations with proper data sources, important control mechanisms such as exception handling, back ordering, order cancellation, etc.
