The City Country Club is considering two types of batteries for use in electric golf carts. Burnout batteries cost $36 each, have a life of three years, cost $100 per year to keep charged, and have a salvage value of $5. Long-lasting batteries cost $60 each, have a life of five years, cost $88 per year to keep charged, and have a salvage value of $5 (assumes that the equipment will be replaced indefinitely, straight-line depreciation, a 34% tax rate and a 15% required return.)
