1. Why does classification matter, what good is it for? What are the issues / problems of classification if any? Additional hints: Consider how an 'ideal' system of classification of Constitutions should look like, if any. What type of categories of classification would you expect, or would you like to see or not to see? Explain what the public, represented by a reasonable layman/laywoman would perhaps expect when 'advising' Constitutional drafters in considering a type of a Constitution for their jurisdiction.
2. Refer to Topic Guide 2 and the Reading titled 'What is a Constitution'.
a. Written or Unwritten
i. What is the difference between a written and unwritten constitution?
ii. Does a country without a written constitution still have a constitution?
iii. Why has an 'unwritten' constitution been useful in the context of the Great Britain? Do you think an 'unwritten' constitution would be well suited to your country?
2 b. Established mechanisms for changing the constitution exist in all constitutions.
i. Compile a list of different mechanisms by which a constitution can be amended.
Find examples of these amendment procedures in provisions of constitutions from around the region.
