Q1. An electron having total energy E = 3.70 eV approaches a rectangular energy barrier with U = 4.90 eV & L = 950 pm, as in Figure. Classically, the electron cannot pass through the barrier because E < U. However, quantum-mechanically a finite probability of tunnelling exists.
