There have been a series of burglaries in the local area where you live. You get to work and see that your boss has posted a sign in the window that states, "Any officer of the law who shoots and kills one of these criminals will receive a $5,000 reward." When you first see the sign, your initial impression is that this will be a good deterrent to the burglars, but as the day goes on, you begin to have second thoughts about such a statement and whether there are any laws that would apply.
