Choose ONE of the following low-incidence categories for your response to this question: (a) hearing impairment; (b) visual impairment; (c) orthopedic impairment. Identify conditions associated with the low incidence category of your choice. Choose ONE of the conditions associated with orthopedic impairment OR hearing or visual impairments and describe how it may impact a child's communication and social/emotional development.

Discuss the educational implications for young children with this condition relative to peer interactions and learning. Discuss the quality of life implications with regard to the interactions among the young child and the family. Finally, describe three different resources that you would share with a parent to assist them in accessing local, state, and national information regarding issues of concern related to their child's condition.

Choose ONE of the following articles  Lifter, Mason, and Barton (2011); Strain, Schwartz, and Barton (2001); Wolery and Hemmeter (2011). In your own words, discuss the topic of the article and one or two key points made by the authors that resonate with you as an early childhood special educator. Include a discussion of how early childhood special educators would utilize knowledge of the state of research on the topic or suggestions for future directions in either research or practice to identify and/or incorporate evidence-based practices in early intervention and/or ECSE.

Discuss why you think it is important for families to be in decision-making roles in both early intervention (Part C) and early childhood special education (Part B) concerning supports and services received by their children with a disability in light of one or more principles of family-centered philosophy and/or practice.
