Electro-Mechanical Actuators and Power Electronics Design Project

The objective of this project is to design an elevator and its electrical drive system for a low rise, 6 story building. The elevator is expected to carry a maximum of 10 people at a time.

Your design should give details about the elevator configuration, the drive system, the motor(s) used, the power requirements and the control system.

Your design specifications should include the weight of the elevator, the speed, the electric power source and the power losses. You should also include the human factors to be considered such as acceleration and vibration.

Your report should include detailed drawings and design calculations.

The motor(s) and other parts of the system may be selected from available suppliers.

The project can be undertaken individually or in teams of two. The amount of work is expected accordingly.
