Q. The federal government makes "hundreds of millions in federal power sales each year," and would be funding part of this. This is job creation. More jobs will be created to process increase in salmon once more dams in the northwest are made more environmentally friendly. While the world demand for salmon [especially Japan's] is increasing, the North American supply of salmon has not increased. Freeing up these rivers to allow more wild salmon to propagate will increase U.S. exports which are very good for our economy.

Is this why we're not seeing many new hydroelectric projects being built?
Or is it because the large capital costs of such projects?
Or is it because nearly all of the best sites have already been developed?
