We have so far looked at two early major civilizations, Mesopotamia and Egypt. Both were powerful, advanced and admired in their time. Yet both eventually declined and were surpassed by others. Why should this be so? Is it the inevitable fate of advanced cultures and empires that they all must weaken and decline? Why or why not?
